During ICANN66 in Montréal, Canada, the Board adopted a resolution to include sustainability investment criteria in ICANN's Investment Policy. These sustainability criteria cover Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. It helps further reduce risk, lead to comparable performance returns, and is consistent with ICANN's Investment Principles.
After a thorough assessment, the Board Finance Committee (BFC) unanimously recommended to include sustainability investment criteria in ICANN's Investment policy. The BFC believes this a significant step to continuously improve ICANN's stewardship of its funds managed in the public interest.
ICANN's Reserve Fund and new gTLD funds will both benefit from this addition and will now be contributing to advance sustainability while continuing to be managed wisely and with fiduciary care.
